CHATSWORTH, Calif. — Miko Lee Productions, in association with London Gunn Productions, has completed principal photography on "Spartacus XXX."
The production, based on the cable TV miniseries, will be released through Wicked Pictures.
"This is not a parody. We're not making fun of the series, quite the opposite. This is a very serious film," Lee said. "We have a very high-end budget so that we can bring you not only great sex but an outstanding story as well."
The film is the brainchild of Marcus London, who directed from his own script.
Adult veteran Tommy Gunn headlines the cast that also includes Tony DeSergio, Brad Armstrong, Nacho Vidal, Gracie Glam, Devon Lee, India Summer, Andy San Dimas, Jenna Presley, Tanya Tate, Prinzzess, Nicole Aniston, Charley Chase, Nikki Daniels, Carina Roman, Melanie Rios, Ben English, Jack Lawrence, Kyle Stone, Eric Masterson, Jack Vegas and newcomer Lucas Stone as Doctore.
Miko Lee Productions owner Miko Lee is the executive producer who also appears in a dream sequence as an exotic Asian seductress.
“It's not as far-fetched as you may think,” Lee said. “Asian cultures go as far back as the Romans do. We are taking a little dramatic license, but it's not totally off the wall.”
"Spartacus XXX" was shot using costumes and sets hand crafted by Gunn and London. "We were looking for authenticity," London said. "In the costumes, in the sets, in the fighting. We had a stunt coordinator come in from Toronto, Paul Rapovski, to help us choreograph the fights. And we also used mainstream high-speed cameras to capture the intensity of this production."
Gunn agreed on the importance of authenticity of the sets and costumes. "When you want something done right, you do it yourself, and we do it all ourselves, from the ground up," Gunn said. "Nobody can deny our devotion and it comes from wanting to be better, inside, individually. It's not for the money, it's for the payoff of knowing you bled and sweated and even cried during the passionate process of the journey.”
He added, "I encourage our fellow industry brothers to do the same... I almost dare you to do better."
The film was shot over a two-week period and is slated for a Sept. 15 release.
